In the last few Q+As I’ve done on instagram, I’ve gotten multiple requests for fall bags - “what’s the new fall bag style?”, “what’s a good basic fall bag under $500?”, as well as “what’s a good splurge item for my wish list?”. Answering all those questions here for you all with a massive round up of bag trends at various price points below.

TREND: Bucket Bags

Bucket bags started popping up a few seasons ago in designer collections and I’m now seeing them everywhere. From high end (like this one) to more affordable (like this) and fun colors (this blue!), there’s definitely a bag for everyone in this trend. Carry over your shoulder or as a crossbody when you’re on the go, or look for ones with a top handle (like this) that can double as a bag for evening or dressier outfits.

TREND: Lady Bags

The small shoulder bag has been around forever, but I’m loving the more vintage, feminine take on these bags right now. Embossed croc (like this) and fun tassel details (seen here) make these anything but boring. Great for travel because they’re large enough to hold plenty, but won’t weigh you down.

TREND: Woven Bags

This trend that we’ve seen since spring and summer gets a fun moodier take for fall. The woven texture can lend itself to a more casual vibe (like this cute tote), but the richer colors mean you can carry these from day to night in most cases (like this total splurge beauty).

TREND: Color

It’s not just your regular old brown or black bags anymore. Dusty blues, rich olives, and deep browns and burgundy are here and I’m loving it. They make for a nice pop on an otherwise neutral outfit or are fun to go tone on tone and have your bag match your look.

My top eight favorite under $500 bags below. These fit the bill for the numerous trends I mentioned above, but won’t break the bank…too badly.

OVER $500 BAGS

If you’re looking for something for your wish list, here are my favorites. These are more high end and while follow the trends of the time, are all bags that, in my opinion, will last you a very long time. My tip for investing in bags is make sure you can use it for multiple occasions and/or seasons. And don’t forget my favorite splurge mentality: cost per use! If it’s something you’ll carry every day, then it is a bit easier to spend more (at least that’s what I tell myself).
