white and natural dining chairs

Hello friends! I have received SO many questions about our dining chairs over the past few months that I thought it was time to put it up on the website. Rather than just linking our chairs, I wanted to show you ALL of the contenders I was looking at with my designer (PS The Loveliest Home is a dream to work with). The dining chairs were one of the first things we picked after we sent each other collages of our favorites. I used my collage to her as a jumping off point to make today’s graphic.

Here’s what I was looking for in our dining chairs:

  • White with canning or rattan accents - Our table is a medium tone wood and we have blonde floors. I wanted to highlight the floors and thought the white wood would compliment and brighten the area since we have a big, heavy wood table. I love mixing wood tones like this so it doesn’t look so matchy-matchy.

  • Cushioned seat - Obviously for comfort reasons, but I also love the look of custom fabric on a seat cushion. I love layers of different patterns and textures in a room and this is a great way to add another little pop. My designer also said she can have the fabric “laminated” so to speak and that sounds like a must-have with my kids.

  • Arms or curved shape - This one is a little odd, I know. Especially for side chairs and not captain’s chairs, but with young kids in our home (and often friends’ kids over for meals), I wanted something that a little one wouldn’t topple off of. Some sort of bend or arm or side barrier to keep them from just leaning right off the chair.

one - the natural woven back on this is SO pretty in the close up photos

two (also sold here ) - this was second place for me when I was deciding. I love them so much! That price point got me though since I needed six chairs.

three (also at Walmart and Target) - DING DING! Our winner! I loved the shape and size of these. They reminded me of a (much more expensive) now discontinued CB2 chair. Know what else I really liked? That price! They’re out of stock right now, but come back every six weeks or so. Sign up for the notifications so you know when they come back. I just had to do that because I initially only ordered four and just got two more. We are adding custom cushions to these because they’re not the most comfortable without a cushion or pillow on the bottom. But hey, for that price springing for cushions is NBD.

four - a great minimalist more modern take on caned furniture. Would have loved these in our old NYC apartment.

five - a classic. And so durable. We had the barstool version of these in our last home and they wipe clean so easily.

six (also sold here) - these are so beautiful and well made. If it weren’t for my cushion and sides requirements, these would have been a strong possibility. They would have looked SO good at our old white table in our last house.

seven - Another one that I was THIS close to choosing. The lines on those arms are so so good.

eight (also sold here) - The curvature of these is so beautiful. They have a nice big wood trim piece down the back. Loved them, but they felt a little more formal four our informal dining area.

nine - You can never go wrong with a classic wishbone chair. Timeless and a great price for these!

ten - Love these for a breakfast nook. That pop of navy is so charming.
