2021 gift guide: preschooler

Gift guides are back! In case you missed my notice on Instagram (read this post), my gift guides this year are scaled down to just ten items. Our household is focusing less on stuff and more on traditions and experiences this year. But, of course, every child needs to open something come Christmas morning, so here are some ideas that we love and that my own little almost 3 year old wants this year. 1.) Baby Doll Carrier Set - If your little one is anything like mine, hauling their babies around is a BIG job. I know Emilia will just love to have this baby carrier for her dolls. She loves everything mini-mommy. Set with doll and carrier ($98), just the carrier ($29)

2.) Paul Gadone Classic Fairy Tale Box Set - I adore classic children’s literature and Paul Gadonne does such a lovely way of telling classic fairy tales. From Goldilocks and the Three Bears to The Little Red Hen (my kids’ favorite!), these timeless books are ones they’ll have and pass down for generations. $20 for the set

3.) Liberty Bike Helmet - Emilia still wears Deacon’s old bike helmet and it doesn’t fit her well at all. A new one was on my list for her and then I saw this darling liberty print helmet ($60) that goes with….. (read on to #4)

4.) Liberty Print Balance Bike - Y’ALL! This bike! I was doing some research on balance bikes and this brand has wonderful reviews. They come in a variety of colors - pink, blue, and more, but then I found this liberty print one and it is just the most darling. ($189 for solid colors, $239 for liberty print)

5.) Tabletop Makeup Vanity Set - Em is asking for pretend makeup this year and I’m debating between getting her this tabletop mirrored vanity that comes with some wooden makeup pieces or this full-size vanity that’s actual furniture for her room. ($45). Here’s another cute set for $40 that come with it’s own carrying bag).

6.) Cash Register with Scanner & Food - We are big into pretend play at our house for both of my kids and I love that this cash register has a scanner that beeps and even a little conveyor belt! We have plenty of play food, but it does come with a cute little grocery basket and a few play food items. I also like that this one is neutral in color. ($25)

7.) 2-in-1 Trampoline & Ball Pit - THIS is genius. Where was this when my kids were just learning to jump? No matter how old the kids in your life are this is sure to entertain. Jump on one side, flip it over and dive into the ball pit on the other side. Available here as Minnie Mouse, and here as Paw Patrol. ($80)

8.) Wicker Doll Carriage - This is by far the most still used item that Emilia got for Christmas last year. She uses it daily to haul not just baby dolls, but all kinds of random toys and decor she finds around the house. She’s a bit of a hoarder. She has the natural wood color, but this year they came out with this blush pink that is so cute. Also comes in white. I love this because I don’t get upset if it’s left out because it is so cute and blends in with our decor. ($159)

9.) Paw Patrol Movie Tower - Sometimes, as much as we as parents try to get our kids the unique, Montessori style toys, deep down in their heart of hearts, they just want the giant piece of plastic from the blockbuster movie. If you have a Paw Patrol obsessed kid in your life, this is THE toy to have this year. Comes with Chase. Also sold here. ($135 - $159 depending on sales)

10.) Sesame Street Counting Bus Magnatiles - I love magnatiles for any age gift, but thought this smaller set with Sesame Street Characters was so sweet! One side has the guys to make the bus. The other side has numbers and counting. A great intro to both magnatiles and counting for your little one. Also love this cute Eric Carle set! ($40)
