Nordstrom Sale 2020

Sale Details 2020 all.png

Well, if you follow any number of the people I follow on social, it’s hard NOT to miss that the Nordstrom Anniversary sale is happening. It gets a lot of coverage, but rightfully so. There are tons of great markdowns on timeless items. This is when I stock up on fall and winter items for all of us. It’s truly one of my biggest shopping days of the year (make sure to declare it a triple points day!), but then we are all pretty much set until springtime.

I wanted to cover the sale intensively which is how I shop it, but since we are also moving this week that just didn’t happen. So I’m doing two small round ups for you - what we’ve bought in the past and swear by and what’s in my cart this year. I hope this helps if you don’t have time to browse through thousands of items that are marked down! And don’t forget to log-in to your Nordstrom account and check your “status” so you know when you’re available to shop.

First up are the items I’ve purchased from previous anniversary sales that I truly couldn’t live without. If you’re not sure where to start, or want some great basics, start here! Many of these I’m buying again this year to give as gifts (yes, I’m already buying for Christmas!), so consider that too while shopping.

Barefoot Dreams Blanket - I KNOW it seems totally insane to spend this on a blanket, but trust me when I say everyone in my family loves (and fights over) it. People who come visit always rave about the blanket too. If you have a new mom or an elderly person or someone who could use some extra comfort right now, this is such a wonderful gift. I love this new windowpane plaid print and am going to snag it for our playroom, but it also comes in this animal print (I have it in the stonen/cream color) and solid.

Barefoot Dreams Robe - While we’re on the topic of Barefoot Dreams, I wear this robe every evening and morning (as you’ve seen on my ice-rolling insta stories). I love my weezie robe for when I get out of the shower, but when I just want another layer over my pjs (which is always because I’m always cold), this is what I grab. It’s like wearing a soft cloud. Both of my kids love to snuggle up with me when I wear it which is another added benefit. If you’re not a robe person, I also wear this comfy cardigan over jammies and when I’m lounging around at home. It is so soft! Again, another great gift!

Spanx Leggings - Turning a corner here from over-sized blankets to leather pants, ha! I put off buying these for a few years and I regret that decision. They are such a staple and really are very flattering and comfortable. They’re still stretchy and have sort of a shiny coating on them that resembles leather. If you’re a person who wears leggings a lot in the winter these are a must-buy. It instantly makes your slouchy cardigan and leggings outfit look a little more polished and “done”. I sized up to a medium.

Madewell Vintage Denim - Madewell denim is hands-down my favorite denim. It just fits me well, wears well, and I know my sizing so it makes shopping online fairly easy. (Don’t forget though - Nordstrom has free returns always!). These “vintage mom jeans” are an update on a style I bought last year that I wear all the time. (This style - actually marked down not a part of the anniversary sale!) I love that they’re a little looser in the leg but still slim. Not too much bulk. SIZE DOWN yall. at least one size. Their jeans stretch out and you def want to size down.

Madewell Skinny Black Jean - I know that the trend is a looser fitting jean this season, but I really think you always need a skinny black jean in your wardrobe. It instantly dresses up a sweater or top; add heels and done - date night outfit. Add sneakers and a sweatshirt and boom - chic weekend wear. I LOVE the 9” rise from Madewell - high enough to cover the “mom pooch”, but not so high that you look like your pants come up to your boobs. Love the button fly with black buttons on this pair. Such a great discount too. Classic black denim from a good brand for under $100? YES!

Leith Cozy Long Cardigan - This long cardigan is such a classic piece. Wear it with leggings, jeans, over a dress, with a tank top, over a blouse! I have it in this gorgeous oatmeal color that pairs well with tons of colors - black, denim, white, navy, really anything. To get this beautiful, versatile, and quality sweater for only $40 is a steal!

True & Co. Bras - I’ve been raging about these for over a year now. It’s all I wear. Truly can’t remember the last time I wore a “real” bra. These sculpt you and provide lift and are the most comfortable bra of all time. And no wires! Underwires have no place in 2020 and these bras make that happen. They come in several versions - putting them all here because who knows what will sell out when. V-Neck, Racerback V-Neck, Convertible Spaghetti Strap, Racerback Spaghetti Strap. If you still haven’t tried one - now is the time!

Moonlight Dream Pajamas - I’m actually stocking up on another pair of these because I wore a pair to basically rags after Emilia was born. These are so so soft, wash and dry well, and make wearing your pajamas beginning at 5pm seem cute and pulled together (speaking from experience). One of the few cute pajamas with functional buttons (great if you’re nursing!) Lots of pretty colors and prints to choose from, but I (not shocking to anyone) am partial to the pink stripe. Also comes in a short-sleeve version, shorts version, and sleep-shirt style. These are such quality for such a great price. Worth it to stock up now to give for the holidays!

Caslon Sneaker Bootie - I talked my mom and sister into these last year. They, like many of us, were like a bootie….sneaker? But hear me out! More often than not (especially in these times), I wear a bootie with a sweater. But if I’m chasing kids or getting in and out of the car in crummy weather booties can feel uncomfortable and I worry about them getting messed up. Enter the sneaker bootie! These are seriously so cute with skinny jeans tucked into them and a big sweater on top. They have a slight wedge built in which gives you both some added height and some arch support. Comfort of a sneaker, look of a bootie, and this particular pair are waterproof. I have them in a gray color, but I am really loving that pretty camel for this fall. Hmmm I may need the updated color, no?

BONUS ITEM: Forgot about this one until I went to check out so it’s not in the graphic, but I also always stock up each year on my Neulash! This is the only eyelash growth serum that doesn’t irritate my eyes and keeps my lashes healthy and long. It is EXPENSIVE, but you basically get two tubes for the price of what one normally is. I usually split a pack with my mom because one tube lasts me a really long time. And don’t be fooled - you don’t need a separate brow growth serum - this works on your brows just as well.

So those were some of my favorites that I’ve purchased in previous years, but here’s a look at what is in my cart now! Like I said, this is when I stock up on basics for our family for fall and winter. And make sure to use a triple or bonus points day so you get extra points for this big haul!

Tucker + Tate Pull On Jeans - My son is sensory-sensitive meaning tags, hoods, collars, stiff waistbands on clothing REALLY irritate him. These jeans have been a favorite for years because of the soft waistband and the fact that they are pull on - no buttons to try to undo. These are one of the few brands of pants that don’t rip by the end of the season. They LAST. Size up if in between sizes though, they run a little small in my opinion. Also ordering them in the khaki and navy for Deacon for school.

Leopard Slides - I love a slide for fall, especially in our warmer climate. I have a pair of animal print slides from at least two years ago that I wore so much, but it is time for a new pair. Nothing can fix what two years of sweaty feet does to a shoe, am I right? Love the chain detail on these and the pattern will go with just about everything this fall.

Cowl Neck Sweater - I love a turtleneck or cowl neck. I have this very strange quirk where if I’m wearing my hair in a ponytail or bun, I like to have a collar or higher neck. Absolutely no idea why I feel this way, but it really dictates what I wear and when I wash my hair. So this sweater is perfect for day two hair. Skinny jeans and the aforementioned leopard slides and I am unshowered chic. UT fans it comes in a beautiful orange color! I originally wanted it in the oatmeal, but it’s sold out. But a gal can never go wrong with black.

Northface Reversible Girls Coat - At the rate my kids grow, we need to buy new coats every single year. And it’s not even that cold for that often here! I always buy both of their coats during this sale. How darling is this soft pink one for Emilia? It’s reversible and I know my snuggly girl will love the faux fur side too. Northface for under $70 is an insane price!

Northface ThermoBall Boys Coat - Deacon LOVES this coat. We get the same version each year. I like that it’s warm and has a hood. He likes that it’s soft and squishy and not “heavy”. In all honesty, I’d rather have him in this warmer version, but he thinks it’s too puffy and heavy. I just layer him up under the ThermoBall and he’s good for most days. Again, the price on both of these is why you buy coats during the Nordstrom sale. I might even buy both and see if I can talk him in to the warmer one and return the other. Free returns always with Nordstrom!

Patagonia Women’s Parka - While we’re on the subject of coats, I am in desperate need of one. I didn’t get one two years ago because I was pregnant and last year managed to scathe by another year with my very old “sleeping bag coat” from my NYC days. It is time. I love this cute silver color and that it’s warm but not too bulky looking. Also love that it’s long, but not too long - covers the bum but you can still move around easily. I can’t decide if I like the silver or this forge gray color more.

Raw Hem Skinny Jeans - I know it’s all about the relaxed style fit in denim these days, but I love a crisp skinny jean with an over-sized sweater for fall. I’m overdue for a new pair - I was pregnant one winter and last winter didn’t invest in any new denim. I’ve heard good things about this brand so going to give it a try. I’ll report back! Love the blue color and the raw hem. Looks like they also come in a washed-black color, as well.

Ribbed Workout Tank - This tank looks promising for workouts. I like the slightly cropped length and racerback style. It’s flowy which is nice and the ribbing makes it seem like you could even wear it for “athleisure” and not just working out. Should pair nicely with my favorite amazon workout pants! I’ll be sure to show it on stories and let you know if it lives up to the hype! Comes in a few colors too. Great for layering under sweatshirts or jackets as the temps get colder.

Diptyque Gift Set - I buy this very set every year during the sale and it is in my cart again this year. These scents are some of my favorites and they are so nice to have on hand to hand out for a hostess gift or teacher gift. I love the mini size so I can tuck them into little spots all around the house - powder room, near my bathtub, guest room, etc. It is also a great way to see what scents you like and don’t like before investing in the larger size candles.

BONUS ITEMS: Ran out of space on my collage, but these beauty buys are also worth checkout for this year’s sale! Olaplex set (wrote about my love of Olaplex here), my curling iron is over $50 off, and our stroller is almost $250 off!
