If you’re new here, I use poetry as a way to express the deep feelings I often feel as it pertains to raising children, my faith, and the beauty of both the big parts and mundane parts of life. This week I wrote in haiku about our first weekend after the tragic Texas Hill Country flooding.

I'm on a plane.
With him. With them.

“Because the deep sorrow (really that’s how it feels - that my babies are growing and time is moving on and I can’t stop it or change it) is so overpowering at times that I completely miss the moments that I’m worried are fleeting.”
